Southwest Airlines is capitalizing on the current boom in travel demand by extending its flight schedule far into the summer of 2024, allowing consumers to book flights until August 4, 2024.
The low-cost carrier's posted schedule has reached an all-time high of 4,526 departures, the company said Thursday.
Beginning June 4, 2024, the expanded schedule includes new or seasonal service between Orlando, Florida and Cancun, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and San Jose, Costa Rica.
Southwest is currently the major airline serving Burbank, California, and will increase its footprint starting June 4 with daily nonstop service between Burbank and Boise, Idaho; Kansas City, Missouri; New Orleans, San Antonio, and St. Louis.
Southwest will also begin daily nonstop service via Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Baltimore/Washington on June 4.
Finally, the airline intends to launch seasonal service from Dallas and Nashville, with Saturday-only flights between Dallas (Love Field) or Buffalo/Niagara, New York; Fresno, California; Providence, Rhode Island; and Spokane, Washington.
Southwest will begin seasonal Saturday-only service between Nashville and Bozeman, Montana, as well as seasonal Saturday and Sunday service between Nashville and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
